On 31st May, Biogas project “Access to Clean Energy, Improved Agriculture Practices and Better Income through Biogas Plants in Dausa District, Rajasthan” was inaugurated, in the presence of Her exellency Ms. Nina Vaskunlahti, Ambassador of Finland in India, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finland. The Inauguration emphasised the 6-months mark of the third phase of the project. Until now, 68 Biogas plants have been constructed since the project inception.

Biogas is a renewable and non-polluting source of energy, which can help rural families improve their income, avoid air pollution, help save time on cooking and provide natural manure for farming. Since 2010, Dausa Biogas Project, Rajasthan, has constructed Biogas plants in the homes of Rural families, supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Finland (MFA) and UFF Finland. The project has built 684 Biogas plants since it’s inception, as well as formed 650+ Women’s Self Help Groups and 650+ Farmers Clubs in the area. 

The inauguration was held in Mona Ka Bass village of Bandikui block of Dausa district, attended by 200 beneficiaries of the project along with representatives of UFF Finland, MFA Finland and HPPI – guests included Mr Erkki Kumpula, Partnership Specialist, UFF Finland, Ms. Katariina Oivo, Embassy of Finland and Dr. J.P.S. Dabas, Principal Scientist, CATAT (Center For Agricultural Technology Assessment and Transfer) of IARI (Indian Agricultural Research Institute) and Dr. A. Padmavathi, Chairperson of HPPI.

Humana People to People India is a development organization registered as a not-for-profit company under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 as of 21st May 1998. It is a non-political, non-religious organization. Its mission is to unite with people in India in order to create development in the broadest sense through the implementation of the projects that aim at transferring knowledge, skills and capacity to individuals and communities who need assistance to come out of poverty and other dehumanizing conditions.
