About HPPI’s Urban Community Development Programme:
Humana People to People India has developed an innovative and effective strategy for holistic community development for slum clusters across metro cities in India with women and child empowerment at the core. This strategy takes into account all the primary interlinked aspects such as education, health sanitation and livelihoods that are crucial to break the vicious cycle of poverty and empower women and children in real terms, addressing multiple factors that keep them from realizing their optimum potential. This comprehensive programme envisages the following activities:

Education: Step-up centres, a specially designed strategy by which HPPI develops the foundation of out-of-school children and helps them enroll in regular schools, Samarth Girls program for retaining already enrolled adolescent girls in school, Basic Literacy for women, enabling access to government facilities and services.
Health: Women health clubs, health camps, health and sanitation awareness campaigns, access to government facilities and services.

Livelihoods: Provision of vocational skills - computer, English, tailoring and beautician courses.
Resource Center: Connecting beneficiaries to various social security schemes they are entitled to, opening of bank accounts, PAN cards etc.
