On June 21, 2019, HPPI signed three MoUs with the Jharkhand Women Development Society (JWDS), under the Department of Women, Child Development & Social Security, Government of Jharkhand. HPPI will be the Education Service Provider in two districts and Community Service Provider in six districts of the state under the Government’s Tejaswini project.

Talking about the objectives of the project, Mr. Kailash Khandelwal, Director, HPPI says, “Under the Tejaswini Project, HPPI will organise adolescent girls and young women in Tejaswini clubs and empower them with life skills education comprising of four key topics: resilience and soft skills, financial literacy, health and nutrition and young women’s rights and protections. Furthermore, we will also provide bridge education for ones who wish to continue studying.”

The Tejaswini Project is being executed by JWDS with support from the World Bank and aims at socio-economic empowerment for Adolescent Girls and Young Women of age group 14-24 years in 17 selected districts of Jharkhand through expanding social, educational and economic opportunities to them.

“The outcomes of the project will also align with the sustainable development goals (SDG) which focus on strengthening the local communities as they play a vital role in driving progress towards achieving the SDGs. These skills will increase women participation in the workforce, promoting gender equality and improving the social and economic position of women in the communities." Mr. Khandelwal added.

The contract was signed in the presence of Dr. D K Saxena, Project Director, JWDS, Ms. Archana Mehta, Senior Admin Officer, Mr. Kailash Khandelwal, Director, HPPI, Ms. Lisbeth Aarup, Head - Project Development, HPPI, Mr. Chandan Verma, National Partnership Officer - CSR & Govt. Partnerships, and Mr. Manu Mayank, Head - Social Impact & Sustainability, HPPI.

Humana People to People India is a development organization registered as a not-for-profit company under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 as of 21st May 1998. It is a non-political, non-religious organization. Its mission is to unite with people in India in order to create development in the broadest sense through the implementation of the projects that aim at transferring knowledge, skills and capacity to individuals and communities who need assistance to come out of poverty and other dehumanizing conditions.
