HPPI was honoured to receive Shri Anil Swarup, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, at our national headquarters in New Delhi on the 23rd June. During the visit, CEO Mr. Snorre Westgaard presented an exhibition highlighting our education projects across the country along with literature from other programme vertical of HPPI. A short PPT highlighting the journey of Humana People to People India (HPPI) was then showcased during the visit.

Anil Swarup

The Kadam Step Up Programme in particular was appreciated by Swarup as it provides accelerated learning to Out-Of-School Children, to enable them to enter or re-enter formal schooling. This programme ensures that not just an educational prowess but a holistic development of a child is undertaken through an innovative step system, allowing the students to build upon their existing capacities, working at their own pace towards what they need to learn. It is an “excellent example of public-private partnership. HPPI is creating a huge impact in education sector in partnership with State Governments. It was a pleasure visiting their headquarters. Learnt a lot from those who are making it happen in the fields. Less gyaan (speech/knowledge) and more action”, tweeted Mr. Swarup after his visit.

Shri Anil Swarup started his career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in, 1981 and has a Master’s degree in Political Science from Allahabad University, where he was awarded the Chancellor’s Gold medal for the best all-round student. He has won many awards including being nominated as one of the “policy change agent” by The Economics Times during the years 2010, 2012, 2015 & 2016. He was also selected as one of the 35 “Action Heroes” in India Today’s 35th Annual Edition.

We extend our gratitude for his continuing guidance and support for our education initiatives across the country.
