On the 24th of March, the Urban Green Festival brought together HPPI’s partners and beneficiaries as well as activists and community mobilisers working on environmental intervention for a 1-day event. The festival commenced with an Environmental fair and workshops and concluded in a common gathering with performances from the participants highlighting environmental challenges and expressing the initiatives that needs to be taken to overcome these.

During the event various Delhi-based environmental organisations, such as Mrittika, New Delhi Nature Society and Art for Humanity along with teacher training students from the DIET (District Institute for Educating and Training) in Faridabad and HPPI’s E-cycling project, presented and engaged the participants in solutions to environmental challenges. Out-of-school students from Kadam centres and AWC (Academy for Working Children, Samarth girls (girls bridge course), Community members and Homeless shelter users attended the event – contributing with performances including a theatre play titled ‘Earth’ performed by a theatre group from the homeless shelter in Mansarovar Park, Delhi.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Danish Café Hellebaek and the English College for International Co-operation and Development.

About HPPI

Humana People to People India is a development organization registered as a not-for-profit company under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 as of 21st May 1998. It is a non-political, non-religious organization. Its mission is to unite with people in India in order to create development in the broadest sense through the implementation of the projects that aim at transferring knowledge, skills and capacity to individuals and communities who need assistance to come out of poverty and other dehumanizing conditions.
