Community Health Camp Taloja, Mumbai

HPPI’s TB Project, Taloja, Mumbai organised a health camp at Navde village on 19th December 2023. The initiative aimed to provide crucial health services, including screening, consultation and awareness, with a particular focus on TB. The success of the health camp was significantly augmented by the active involvement of Anganwadi and ASHA workers who played a vital role in mobilising the community. A team of qualified doctors provided free screenings and health consultations during the camp. Additionally, a pharmacist on-site distributed necessary medicines, facilitating immediate care for those in need. A total of 81 individuals received consultations and prescribed medications during the health camp.
Furthermore, 7 presumptive cases of TB were identified at the camp. The project team promptly initiated follow-ups to conduct further testing, including X-ray and sputum analysis. This proactive approach is crucial in the early detection and management of TB cases. In addition to healthcare services, the project team distributed pamphlets to raise awareness about TB and infectious diseases. These informational materials are essential in educating the community about symptoms, prevention, and treatment options, contributing to the overall health awareness of the community.
The collaboration of healthcare experts and the active participation of the community played a pivotal role in the effective dissemination of information regarding TB and other infectious diseases. The health camp served as a platform for dialogue and engagement, fostering a sense of community responsibility for health and well-being.
