Action Research workshop organised for NeTT teacher-educators

The pedagogy employed in HPPI’s educational projects aims to put the learner in the driving seat and steer his/her own learning process. Systematic enquiry of their own practice as faculty and student-teachers, in the form of conducting Action Research, is inherent to this process, primarily in our Necessary Teacher Training Programme (NeTT).

As part of its capacity building initiative, HPPI organised a 2-day virtual workshop  (11th-12th August) on Action Research with 50 NeTT teacher-educators and team leaders from 15 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) across 5 states, namely, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar.

The workshop, facilitated by HPPI Education Specialist, Abhishek kumar, was focused on the method, process and application of Action Research to teaching-learning with the aim to develop the capacity of teacher-educators and student-teachers in solution-oriented investigations and actions and to be constructive and reflective practitioners.

Following the capacity building session, the participating NeTT student-teachers and teacher-educators are presently developing their action research projects around various challenges encountered in their regular activities. These include, challenges related to solving Study Tasks, truancy and irregularities at DIETs, challenges related to internship, issues related to lack of confidence leading to low participation among the first year students and challenges of multi grade multi level teaching (MGML) in mohalla schools.

The NeTT Programme was launched in the year 2009 and till now has graduated 13,769 teachers with Diploma of Education from 31 DIETs across India.
