With a vision to ensure continuity and quality of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, the School Education Department, Chhattisgarh started an initiative to implement an alternative education (online and offline) for the children. Since the schools have been closed down globally to reduce the spreading of infection, teachers in Chhattisgarh are bringing the school to the students.

Humana People to People India (HPPI) is working with Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission in Chhattisgarh to implement the state’s flagship programme “Padai Tumhare Dwar” (Education at your door) and “Padai Tumhare Para” (Education in your village) where education is being bought to the students in a safe environment. HPPI is focusing on imparting student-centric education through its Kadam methodology and facilitating the programme implementation with the capacity building of local teachers/volunteers. Teachers are being provided softcopy of the Kadam Toolkit, making it easier for them to continue theme-based teaching.

Currently working in seven districts of Chhattisgarh, every local teacher is in communication with an HPPI district representative through phone / WhatsApp group. In Raigarh and Mungeli, HPPI is focusing on “Padai Tumhare Dwar” online education through our Digital Classroom Project while in Surajpur, Bilaspur, Raipur, Bijapur and Dantewada we are focusing on “Padai Tumhare Para” with the involvement of local Government Teachers or  Education Volunteers. Till date, more than 4,500 students have participated in these classes in 411 small groups. So far more than 400 government teachers and close to 80 education volunteers have been associated with the initiative.
