The Tejaswini Project implemented in Jharkhand with support from the Government of Jharkhand and Jharkhand Women Development Society under Department of Women and Child Development aims to empower adolescent girls and young women with life skills education comprising four key topics: resilience and soft skills, financial literacy, health and nutrition and young women’s rights and protections.

On July 2, a two-day training was organised for the Youth Facilitators who were trained on the AGYW (Adolescent Girls and Young Women) induction module. 146 Cluster Coordinators-cum-Counsellors trained 623 Youth Facilitators at Panchayat level in 146 cluster locations.

The Youth Facilitators then trained the AGYW belonging to different Tejaswini Clubs and were in the age groups of 14-24 years. The Tejaswini Clubs represent a social group where AGYW are engaged in activities that empower them with knowledge about health and nutrition, rights and security and financial literacy. Furthermore, they get a chance to complete their education and/or skill-training that helps them start their own income-generating enterprise or in gaining employment.

Following the training of the Youth Facilitators, a seven-day induction training was organised where 17,996 AGYW from 1,000 different Tejaswini Clubs in Dhanbad, Jharkhand participated. The participants were briefed about the programme and they discussed the challenges and solution AGYW in Jharkhand face on the path to their development.

Since implementation,  362,401 adolescent girls and young women have joined the Tejaswini Clubs across six districts in Jharkhand.
